1 cup Dried green or brown lentils rinsed and drained
1½ cup Vegetable soup (or water)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 Finely chopped small onions
1 Pepper (red or green), finely chopped
2 Garlic, chopped
1 cup There is no Yomama’s sugar-free ketchup (use 30% off Code Healthy Helper!)
1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 tablespoon Date syrup (or maple syrup or agave honey)
1 tablespoon Vegan Worcester sauce
1 tsp Smoked Paprika
½ tsp Ground Cumin
½ tsp Serve to taste dried oregano salt and pepper, whole wheat burger bread, keto bread, or any bread of your choice

Instructions

Cook the lentils: In a medium pan, mix the lentils and vegetable soup (or water). Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the lentils are tender. Drain excess liquid and set it aside. Fry the vegetables: Heat the olive oil over medium heat in a large frying pan. Add the chopped onion and peppers and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until it smells good. Make a sloppy jaw mixture: add cooked lentils to a skillet with the vegetables. Stir in ketchup, apple cider vinegar, date syrup, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, cumin and oregano. Mix well and combine. Simmer: Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thick. Season and season with salt and pepper. Serve: Spoon the mixture into toasted burger bread and heat it. Enjoy the side of fried sweet potatoes, salads, or pickled potatoes.
