Why bruising occurs after injection

Bruises are not always avoidable, but steps can be taken before booking to minimize risk. It is important to avoid blood thin medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advir, Motrin), fish oil, vitamin E, ginkobirovar, and alcohol for several days before injectable treatment. Incorporating vitamin K-rich foods such as spinach, kale and celery into your diet can help to enhance capillary strengthening and quick healing. Additionally, preparing your skin with powder-digestible arnica or topical vitamin K cream a few days before can reduce the severity of bruises after treatment. Bromelain also stops inflammation, so this is a good supplement to prevent swelling after treatment. It is also important to choose an experienced practitioner. Expert injectors use gentle, accurate techniques or blunt tip cannulas, which reduces vascular trauma. Finally, you can strategically schedule your treatment and avoid last-minute appointments that will help you manage the healing process without stress.

Bruises are prone to occur around the mouth (upper and lower lips), so if there is a bruise after treatment, don’t be wary or suffer. It’s completely normal.

My treatment

The treatment I did was a restaurant skin booster, which hydrates and increases collagen and elastin from the area, increases cell renewal and gentle softens the strains around the lips. Treatment lasts 7-9 months and costs £900/1000 depending on the amount of product required.

Immediate aftercare to minimize bruises

Proper aftercare will help speed up healing and continue to have minimal bruises.

Ice ice: Apply ice packs or cold compresses every hour after the procedure for 10 minutes to constrict blood vessels and reduce leakage. Switch to warm compression after the first time. This helps the body reabsorbs the pooled blood more quickly. Avoid alcohol and blood thinner medications 24 hours a day. Continue with topical creams and supplements: Arnica Powders, Alastin Skinernectar, and Bromelain supplements can relieve inflammation and promote recovery.
