The year 2024 is coming to an end. I can’t believe another year is over. Honestly, I don’t know where the time is going. At this time of year, we can think of nothing more appropriate than a reminder to take care of ourselves. So many of us are loving, kind, and caring human beings, but we spend most of our energy on others and have very little left for ourselves. If this happens, we may not be able to fully enjoy the holiday season, and we may become more susceptible to illness. Oh, that’s amazing!
it’s a balancing act
There are only 24 hours in a day, so it can be difficult to maintain balance in your life, especially during the holiday season. But it can make the difference in whether you’re actually enjoying your time with your loved ones. Here are some tips.
Be positive: Many people start their day with gratitude, by writing in a journal or simply thinking about things they are grateful for. This will help you prepare for the day by reminding yourself that there are good things in life. You might think of this as a mindfulness practice, but we all know that it’s extremely important, especially during stressful times.
Make sure you are eating more healthy food than unhealthy food. This is basically self-explanatory. I think most of us splurge this time of year (hey, we’re humans too), but make sure the majority of what you put in your mouth is healthy, like fresh produce and good quality proteins and fats. Please make sure there is. Then your body, mind, and especially your emotions will thank you.
Stay physically active: Stress is often alleviated by types of exercise such as walking enough steps a day, dancing, or doing an exercise routine. My android counts steps for me. Just keep it in your pocket or bag. If the weather is nice, take a walk somewhere like a park. Because spending time in nature is a great way to relax and slowly de-stress. It’s still mindfulness
It is very necessary during the busy holiday season.
Be realistic about what you can do and how much you can do. Set your goals keeping in mind not only yourself but also others. Don’t be afraid to say no. It may be painful, but it’s the part of you that takes care of you…a very important part.
Be kind to others: I’m talking about maybe doing some volunteer work if the opportunity arises. Are you open-minded towards others? As long as you incorporate this into your schedule, thinking about others can help give you a healthier perspective on your own life. There are many options available. For example, social isolation and loneliness are frequent conditions for many older people, so it can be helpful to spend some time with them. If you love animals, consider volunteering at an animal shelter. (Pets have feelings too!) You can also feed the homeless or mentor young people.
Be kind to yourself: Have you ever been on a plane and the oxygen mask came out and you were told to put your own oxygen mask on first before helping your child or someone else? why? If you yourself are not breathing, you are of no use to others. The same goes for self-care. Many of us have people who rely on us. Therefore, in order to build healthy relationships, you must first practice self-care. I would like to remind you that this does not mean that you are selfish, but that you can enjoy your life and be of help to others.
Health and Wellness Online wishes you all a wonderful, happy and healthy holiday season, no matter how or when you celebrate.
