Magimix Cook Expert vs Thermomix

Magimix Cook Expert vs Thermomix

I was very fortunate to have the Magimix Cook Expert sent out to test it in my kitchen.

Let’s just say that as a cookbook author and food blogger, I use household appliances quite a bit. But the most important thing is that I love cooking. I am honest about my opinions on what I use and recommend.

So, if you want to know more about Magimix Cook Expert, keep reading. I also compared some of the features to other thermal cookers such as the Thermomix TM6 and Thermomix TM5 (I have both).

In this post you will learn:

Magimix Cook Expert Review

Putting this Magimix Cook Expert review (July 2021) together was a tough job. I am extremely grateful to Magimix Australia (and my culinary experts) for giving me this opportunity.

I would like to say that this review is completely honest and not biased in any way. I have always been honest about the products and appliances I use.

We often get asked about alternatives to Thermomix®, and there are several on the market, so it’s fun to test two thermomixes side by side with the same recipe.

Who is it best for?

I often see comments on social media that thermal cookers are for people who don’t have cooking skills. If you think like this, you are wrong!

Cook Expert and all thermal cookers are perfect for everyone from learners to advanced cookers.

For me, a quality thermal cooker like Magimix or Thermomix® is essential for cooking. I would recommend a thermal cooker like the Magimix Cook Expert to anyone.

What does it come with?

Cook Expert comes with many features to get you off to a great start. Magimix has additional accessories, but we’ll get to that later. Watch the Magimix Cook Expert unboxing video.

Magimix includes:

3.5L metal bowl with lockable lid with glass see-through lid. Double-walled stainless steel bowl keeps food hot for up to 2 hours. The shatterproof glass lid allows you to see what’s happening while cooking. There is a cap in the center of the lid that can be fixed or removed to release heat and reduce liquid. Set of 3 BPA-free food processor bowls with 3.6L, 2.6, and 1.2 liter capacities Steamer basket Whisk attachment Spatula Set of 2 Cook Expert Magimix cookbook with 300 recipes

Where can I buy it?

Magimix Cook Expert is available at some large electronics retailers. However, depending on your location, you can search for your nearest retailer on Google or purchase directly from your local Magimix website.

The current price of Magimix Cook Expert is $2299 (July 2021).

Magimix Cook Expert vs Thermomix TM6

Here are some of the differences already mentioned between Cook Expert and Thermomix TM6. There’s a lot to know about the features and benefits of Magimix Cook Expert and Thermomix TM6. As far as I’m concerned, I can safely say that Cook Expert is the biggest competitor to the Thermomix right now. This is based on the appliance’s overall quality, features, and power.

Here’s what I discovered so far during testing. I will definitely update it in time.

guided cooking

The Cook Expert has pre-programmed features and a cookbook, but guided cooking recipes are not built into the unit. Before using Cook Expert, I had used both a Thermomix TM5 and TM6 for years (TM6 less so), but I had never used the guided cooking feature. did. The Thermomix TM6 has an annual subscription to the Cookidoo platform for access to guided recipes. Without paying a subscription fee, users can only access the pre-programmed basic recipes provided. Some modes, such as high-temperature sauté mode, are built into the Cookidoo platform and cannot be accessed by users without a subscription.

Bowl capacity and heating function

The Cook Expert bowl is huge compared to the Thermomix. Visually, it’s easier to understand when you see them side by side. The Cook Expert metal bowl is insulated and has a wider base, giving you more surface area to stir-fry and larger ingredients.

Cook Expert comes with 4 bowls. A large 3.5L metal bowl for cooking and 3 BPA-free food processor bowls for chopping, grating, and blending. Compared to Thermomix, which has a 2.2L bowl, Magimix has much more capacity for cooking. Magimix has a maximum heating capacity of 1700W and can cook up to 160°C. Thermomix has a heating capacity of up to 1000W. The TM6 can heat up to 160°C for sautéing, but this feature is only locked to the guided cooking function. Alternatively, Thermomix allows heating up to 120°C. I love the width of the Magimix bowl and the ability to cook at high temperatures without being forced to use unwritten recipes.

There are three thermal appliances on the kitchen bench.

Blade and functionality

The Cook Expert blade is larger and “blunt” compared to the Thermomix.

I like that the CE has the option of intermittent stirring or not rotating the blades at all.

This is especially great for sous vide, bone-containing ingredients, such as beef bone broth recipes and pea and ham soup.

The Thermomix has a reverse stirring option, but no static blade functionality. However, an optional blade cover can be purchased separately.

Even though the Cook Expert has a more powerful motor, it cannot mill flour like the Thermomix. Due to the blunt blades and wide bowl, this is one feature I personally miss when using this appliance. But that’s not a big problem for me, or for many of you.

The speed of the machines is also different. As mentioned above, Magimix Cook Expert has intermittent functionality that is not associated with preset recipes. Speeds vary by machine. The table below may be helpful in converting recipes. This website features many Thermomix recipes, sous vide recipes, and keto cookbooks with heat cooking instructions. The table below will help you convert recipes that have not yet undergone Magimix recipe conversion.

balance

This is another feature that has many differences between the two thermal cookers.

The Magimix comes with a separate high-quality scale that measures in increments (metric and customary) on the machine itself.

The TM6 has a built-in scale that measures to the nearest 1g (or customary), so you can weigh directly into the bowl.

Personally, I like the direct weighing approach. This reduces the need to measure ingredients separately into bowls or cups.

Magimix decided to do this separately because some users have had scaling issues with Thermomix in the past (I believe).

Personally, I have had no problems with either the Thermomix TM5 or TM6 in the 6 years since I received my first product.

Automatic programs and functions

Magimix Cook Expert has 13 automatic programs to prepare or cook meals. You can steam, bake, mix, chop, stir-fry, slow cook, and more.

There are no guided cooking recipes, but the machine comes with a free recipe app and a cookbook with 300 recipes.

Although the Thermomix TM6 has additional features (30 in total), the Magimix has several features and advantages over the Thermomix for “gourmets”. (I have to say, I can’t wait until the Thermomix TM7 is available).

Personally, I love grating or slicing vegetables rather than chopping them. CE food processors have a distinct advantage here.

Is Magimix Cook Expert better than Thermomix TM6?

In my experience, both of these machines are invaluable in the kitchen. Both have different strengths, so I can’t say which one is better. If I had to choose between the two, I think it would depend on the chef and the style of cooking.

Does Magimix Cook Expert have a cooking guide?

No, it’s not. It has useful features for cooking, recipes available in a free app, and a cookbook with 300 recipes.

Can I slow cook with Cook Expert?

Yes, you can. Combining the slowest speed with a non-spinning blade, I’ve made many slow-cooked dishes with great success in my new cookbook, Slow Cook Keto.

Can I cook sous vide with Magimix Cook Expert?

I’m sure you can! Vacuum seal and use 0 speed function. Always use the recommended cooking temperatures for the foods you cook.

Is it easy to clean?

Yes, that’s right. You can use the cleaning function, the bowl is easy to disassemble, and the surface is easy to clean.

Keto diet plan and support

Over the years, I have written many thermal cooking recipes to test using a multi-thermal cooker. Using both the table and recipe method above, you’ll find hundreds of recipes to enjoy on the Mad Creations Hub. My keto recipes are crowd pleasers, whether you follow a keto diet or not.

I’ve introduced only a few of them here, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy them!

conclusion

I won’t go into too much detail, but I hope this helps some of you who are considering purchasing the Magimix Cook Expert. The number of thermal cookers on the market is increasing, and it can be difficult to choose one. In short, here’s what I like about Cook Expert and why it would influence me to buy it.

3 Year Warranty + 30 Year Motor Warranty – Quality is exceptional. There are no locked features in guided cooking recipes. Additionally, I secretly love choosing the “Cook Expert” feature. Then you’ll wonder, “Who are the current experts?” Hehe! Bowl size and diameter. Great for sautéing as well as cooking meat without “boiling” it. Food Processor – I love that I can precisely grate and slice in the same machine. The final reason is extra attachments. I didn’t mention it above, but the XXL steamer, extra dough hook, and spiralizer (which I have) are great.

Do your research today to organize a Magimix Cook Expert demonstration and see if it’s right for you. I use it weekly and have it permanently on my kitchen bench. If you have any questions, please comment below. I will respond honestly or give feedback.
