Why you’ll love this yogurt smoothie recipe
Quick and Easy – Made with just 6 simple ingredients and 5 minutes. Banana-free – This smoothie is perfect for those who don’t like bananas. High in protein – Protein makes it more meal-like and satiating, making it a great breakfast or post-workout meal. Flexible ingredients – easy to dairy. Free or vegan to suit your needs.

ingredient spotlight
Frozen mango – fresh or frozen (frozen blend is best) Frozen pineapple – fresh, frozen or canned (drain the juice if using canned). Frozen Cauliflower Rice – This blends into the background of the smoothie but doesn’t taste like it (I promise). Do not use fresh cauliflower rice, instead use frozen spinach (it will change color). Vanilla Protein Powder – I use vegan vanilla protein, but you can also use whey, collagen, or beef protein (I used vanilla). Greek yogurt – regular or dairy-free, plain or vanilla. Milk – dairy or non-dairy
Other additions
Fresh Ginger – Adds a spicy kick. Peel off the 1/2 inch knob. Additional fruit – try bananas, berries, or mango (berries may change color). Fiber and healthy fats – add chia seeds, flax meal, nuts and seeds. Nut Butter – Add creaminess with cashew butter, tahini, or sunbutter. Add – Coconut flakes, cinnamon, oats (rolled or quick).

important tips
Use frozen fruit – Frozen mango and pineapple create a rich, creamy texture without the use of ice. Make ahead – Save time by portioning out smoothie ingredients and freezing them. Just dump and blend when ready. Adjust sweetness – Taste before eating. If desired, add honey, maple syrup, or pitted Medjool dates for natural sweetness (this must be blended). Fortify nutrition – Mix in chia seeds, flax flour, or spinach to add fiber and nutrients without affecting flavor.

What is the best protein powder to use?
We recommend vegan protein powder, whey protein, or almond protein powder. Check out all of my favorite protein powders for smoothies.

Can you make me a smoothie in advance?
Smoothies are best when fresh. Store in the refrigerator in a double-walled insulated cup for up to 24 hours. If possible, mix again with ice before serving as the texture may change.

Pour leftovers into popsicle molds for a frozen treat, or freeze them in ice cube trays and blend them into future smoothies.

Use frozen fruit for the best texture. You can find these at most grocery stores (I usually buy them at Aldi or Trader Joe’s). If you don’t have frozen fruit, add 1 cup of ice. Check out my tips on freezing fruit for smoothies. Use any flavored protein powder you really like. For this recipe, I used Octo-Nut Vanilla Almond Protein. Serve as a smoothie or add your favorite toppings to turn it into a smoothie bowl.
