From gender equity to fun adaptation, Jack talks about how the Dalai Lama challenged his teachers to reconstruct Buddhism for a modern world in which the heart is needed.
This Dharma lecture was recorded on March 29, 1993 at the Spirit Rock Meditation Centre. It was originally published on Dharmaseed.
“Someone said that the heart of the Dalai Lama is like a diamond, and that in either direction, it has clarity and beauty. – Jack Cornfield
In this episode of mental wisdom, Jack awakens teacher training for counseling, ethics code, sectarianism in a new era, and dramatic calls for gender equity: a common mind of nuns, counsels and training funded “on the spot”: a contemplative reflection of Sylvia Wetzel: if Dalah Lama was always a woman, humor and integrity: “regeneration control” and other Dalai Lama one-liners engaged in Buddhism: arms sales, poverty, overpopulation, drafting a draft pan-baddist code of conduct.
