Nano Lipo Surgery is the next big trend you should know about

In the age of AI, regenerative medicine is anything but artificial. The latest innovation is the use of nanofat, a powerful form of fat with minimal regenerative properties, enriched with stem cells and growth factors. Unlike traditional fat transfer, nanolipoplasty offers regenerative and anti-inflammatory benefits, revolutionizing aesthetic treatments.

With regenerative medicine at the forefront of beauty, we spoke to leading experts who are using nanofat to push the boundaries of beauty treatments.

Dr. Ziv Peled is a board certified plastic surgeon based in San Francisco. Dr. Neal Vranis is a board certified plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Shoaib Mint is a board certified oculoplastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. R. Brannon Claytor is a board certified plastic surgeon based in Philadelphia.

San Francisco plastic surgeon Ziv Peled, MD, a lecturer at this summer’s San Diego Academy of Regenerative Therapies conference, where fat, and nanofat in particular, came into the spotlight, summarizes: “We can now offer patients a minimally invasive procedure that not only provides structural support but also helps the body heal itself. Nanofat is delivering results that were once thought impossible.”

Below we take a closer look at how nanolipoplasty surgery is a new and novel method being used in aesthetic medicine today.

Nanolipoplasty Surgery and Post-Mastectomy Pain Relief

Who is eligible: Patients suffering from chronic pain such as post-mastectomy pain, chronic headaches, and nerve-related discomfort.

Treats: Chronic pain, nerve inflammation, and discomfort due to trauma.

What it does: First, nanofat is harvested from a small area of the patient’s body. It’s then processed using a specialized kit, such as the TULIP Gold Kit, and injected around the inflamed or damaged nerves, promoting healing and reducing inflammation. “The combination of the structural cushioning you get around the nerves and the stem cell component gives you a combined anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective and nerve regenerative effect,” says Dr. Peredo.

What Nanofat does: “Nanofat is a groundbreaking treatment for patients suffering from conditions such as diabetic neuropathy and trigeminal neuralgia, often referred to as the ‘suicide disease’ due to the extreme pain it causes,” explains Dr. Peredo. “Because we use the patient’s own fat, the risk of complications is minimal and the results are remarkable. We have seen patients experience significant pain reduction, improved quality of life and faster recovery.”

Skin tightening laser and nano lipoplasty

Who is it for: Patients looking for faster recovery and enhanced skin regeneration.

Treatments include: fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, and uneven skin.

What it does: Doctors combine nanofat with skin rejuvenation treatments like lasers and microneedling. Rich in stem cells and growth factors, nanofat speeds healing and enhances the effectiveness of these treatments, leaving skin thicker and smoother.

What Nanofat Does: Neil Vranis, MD, a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California, explains, “Combining nanofat with laser skin resurfacing is revolutionary because it accelerates skin healing and regeneration. The result? Far fewer wrinkles and firmer, thicker skin. Patients notice an immediate improvement, but what’s amazing is that the skin continues to improve for months because nanofat works its magic just under the skin.”

He continues, “This approach significantly reduces downtime — patients can receive more intensive treatment and recover faster, and the results are so natural that no one will even notice they’ve had ‘surgery.'”

Brightening the eyes with nanofat and blepharoplasty

Who should take it: Those who want to reduce dark circles, hollows and fine lines around the eyes.

Treats: Eye hollows, dark circles around the eyes, thinning skin, wrinkles.

What it does: Instead of removing fat from the eye as in traditional eyelid surgery, nanofat is injected into the eyelids to restore lost volume, improve skin texture and regenerate collagen.

The role of nanofat: Dr. Shoaib Mint, an oculoplastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California, explains: “Methods that involve removing large amounts of fat and muscle are slowly being replaced. Now, we focus on sculpting and carefully repositioning tissue in the lower and upper eyelids. While removing fat can make the eyes look hollow and older, adding volume with nanofat can address dark circles and fine lines under the eyes.”

He added: “The great thing about nanofat is that it provides volume and regenerative effects in such delicate areas. Patients ultimately look refreshed and youthful without the need for fillers, and because it uses the body’s own tissue, the results are longer lasting.”

“LaMiNa” for barcode lip line

Who is it for: Patients looking to smooth out fine lines and restore volume around the lips without the use of fillers.

Treatment: Fine lines, wrinkles and volume loss around the mouth.

What it is: Created by Philadelphia plastic surgeon R. Brannon Claytor, MD, the LaMiNa treatment combines powerful CO2 laser skin resurfacing, microneedling, and nanofat to restore the skin’s natural ability to regenerate. By targeting the lips and surrounding area, it helps smooth barcode lines and create natural, long-lasting youthful volume that a facelift can’t achieve. “What inspired me to create the LaMiNa technique was my passion and desire to eliminate the fine lines and wrinkles around the lips of people who come in for facelifts. You can’t pull those areas tight with a facelift. If you try to do that, it’s going to look very windswept and unnatural, and that’s not what my patients want,” says Claytor.

“All three elements of the procedure are performed on the same day: first the CO2 laser treatment (LA), then microneedling (Mi) using a SkinPen, and then the immediate application of nanofat (Na). We combine nanofat with CO2 laser skin resurfacing and microneedling, which creates tiny channels in the skin that allow the nanofat to penetrate deeper and work its magic. The result is smoother, firmer skin that lasts longer and looks more natural compared to traditional treatments.”

What nanofat does: “The deep thermal effect of the laser stimulates collagen production, while nanofat provides stem cells for regeneration. Microneedling creates microchannels that allow the nanofat to penetrate deeper into the skin.”

“Because we are utilizing the body’s natural ability to regenerate, the skin heals faster and results continue to improve over time,” says Dr. Claytor.
