Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well. Today I am going to review another sunscreen and try it out for my darker skin tone. I’m very passionate about encouraging black people to wear more sunscreen, so I have to make sure we find options that work for us. Check out my dark skin sunscreen menu for even more options. I love the brand Paula’s Choice and have tried several of their sunscreens as well. This is a new sunscreen (I think) released last year. I received the travel size as a gift when I purchased it, so I’ve been using it for a while.
This is an SPF moisturizer, so you don’t have to layer it on top of your morning moisturizer, which is super convenient. Ultra-sheer finish provides high-factor, broad-spectrum protection for normal and dry skin. It has a high PA rating and has added antioxidants
experience
It has a very light lotion texture that feels light and silky on the skin and is not oily. I didn’t feel any irritation from the SPF and it didn’t sting my eyes. It leaves a moist finish, but not too shiny. I use a standard two-finger amount to get the right amount for my face and neck.
Does it not look 100% on dark skin? No! It promises an ultra-sheer finish, but it leaves a slight white residue on the skin. It’s not the worst cast I’ve experienced, but it’s still there and I can’t leave the house with just this without a little powder. It’s very hard to see in the photo below, but if you look at my neck you can see that I have pilling and casts on my skin.
Another issue I have with this SPF is pilling. As you can see, it builds up and settles in the neck line. It also adheres firmly to the hairline.
verdict
PC is one of my favorite brands so this is a no from me. It’s a shame. In fact, one of my favorite sunscreens is theirs. This leaves the cast and it builds up! White spots can be easily covered with makeup, but what about pilling? Makeup becomes difficult! I sigh. I’m not a fan of sunscreen at all, but believe me, I haven’t finished the 15ml travel size yet. I switched to something else.
