Stay in the sanity during turbulent style

Looking up at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Chapel's skylight, the light is shining on a hanging metal rectangle that catches light at various angles.

Especially for those who live in the United States, there is a huge amount of politically. Many Donald Trump’s supporters may be pleased with the current events, but they are definitely worried about the rest.

Violence criminals, including the attacked police officers and those who operate the online drug market, were released from prison. An administrative order was issued to deny part of the constitution. Some of the president’s political enemies have withdrawn the security details, which are at risk of their lives. A round -up of both citizens and unwritten immigrants has begun. Men with extremely drunk history, threats to women, and economic fraud are in charge of the world’s largest army. Federal government contractors are given green light to practice racial and sexual discrimination. And so on. It’s a lot. It is overwhelming.

I don’t want to be overwhelmed, and I don’t think so. So I want to talk about what I’m doing to keep my sanity.

My slogan at the moment is “foot on the ground”. Heart wide open. Please keep watching above. “

Foot on the ground

The “foot of the ground” means maintaining a calm and emotional ground.

I am practicing very light (or zero) engagement with the news, and I read the thoughtful outline of people, such as Heather Cox Richardson, Ruth Bengyat, and Timothy Snider.
I try to value the need for rest and emotional nutrition by listening to music and meeting friends as much as possible. We need to take care of ourselves.

I aim not to be furious, but to consider everything as “expected in consideration of the situation.” In other words, what is happening (excluding the threat of a thinly wrapped in veil of invading Greenland and Panama) was well -flagged. You will not be surprised, assuming that you were paying attention.

Accepting things as “expected” does not mean that you accept them. Instead, it means treating them as facts. We can know that things are morally wrong and harmful, and support lawsuits, protests, legislation measures, etc. What we believe in need and help is one of the most useful things we can do.

Things are bad, but here I remind me of things that are much worse and make myself take root. Think about slavery era, civil war, gym crow, war against indigenous people, two World War I. The situation is bad, but I can thank them that they are not bad. Having a historical perspective is another way to keep my feet on the ground.

As far as fear, I am now trying to focus on the fact that I am safe. I know that the situation may change, but for now I’m OK. (My partner is susceptible to anxiety and I’m worried at this time.)

Heart wide open

Heartwide opening means communicating with the reality of others’ suffering.

In such an era, if we are all right, it is very useful to think that everything is okay and to withdraw to selfishness. This is a kind of originality that many mental practitioners slip. Certainly, we may have to withdraw and take care of ourselves. However, according to Buddha, the best types of practitioners practice not only themselves and others, but also themselves. So we will withdraw not only to ourselves but also to the world.

So I need to think about others. Some of them have a much more reason than me. 。 I’m trying to make my heart open and caring, but I’m not worried.

In fact, being compassion for others can help avoid anxiety. The worries come from the anxious anti -minaTion. There, we obsessed the fact that we are wrong and often face them and feel helpless. Anxiety will prevent us from giving a true compassion.

Another thing to refute anxiety is actually doing something. Therefore, it can help find supporting organizations, such as organizations that provide legal advice. RAICES, which provides legal agents to immigrants and exile, is donated by me. But there are many others. Whatever the organization you support, even if you can afford to give a little, you will feel that you can almost certainly donate. You will feel that you are contributing, not just blame that you are wrong, rather than decrying everything wrong.

We recommend that you choose some important topics that focus on to balance the need to avoid overwhelming and our natural desire to keep being attractive and conscious. We cannot stay on everything.

Please keep watching above

Please keep watching “Full of hope” on top.

As Howard Jin said, “What we hope for a bad age is not stupidly romantic, the fact that human history is not only cruel, but also a caring, sacrifice, courage, and kind history. Based on it.

Remember not only the purpose of fighting the changes that you are not welcomed, but also the society you want to see in the future. It may take several decades to bring a few changes you want to see, but it is even more important to share your vision and change your mind now.

Foot on the ground. Heart wide open. Please keep looking up.

These are what I do. What is helping you?
