Apple season has arrived again this year. I’ve had my eye on apple bread for a while.

When my kids were little, we always made time to visit the apple orchard to pick fresh apples, but now that my youngest is 18 and we’re all so busy, we don’t have much time to go to the local orchard. I can’t take it anymore.

Luckily, this keto apple cider donut bread doesn’t require actual apples, but it’s packed with apple flavor.

Perfect for the fall season, this healthy apple cider bread is free of apple juice, apple cider, and even almond flour.

You’ll also be happy to know that this bread recipe doesn’t use egg white protein powder or whey protein powder.

Another amazing reason you’ll love this bread is that you don’t have to whisk the egg whites to stiff peaks like in my Cottage Cheese Cloud Bread recipe.

There is no need to purchase special ingredients such as xanthan gum, flaxseed flour, or psyllium husk. This is also a good choice for novice keto bakers.

Carbs in apple cider donut bread

Traditional apple cider donuts and apple cider donut bread use all-purpose flour or wheat flour and regular white sugar.

According to the Chronometer app, one Trader Joe’s apple cider donut has 41 grams of carbohydrates, 320 calories and 21 grams of sugar.

This is too expensive to enjoy while on a keto or low-carb diet. This is because it will definitely spike your blood sugar levels and cause an appetite.

Low Carb Sweetener Options

The reason I use monk fruit sweetener in combination with allulose and liquid stevia is because it helps reduce the aftertaste of either of them. Really helpful and highly recommended.

However, if you only have one type, be sure to buy the monk fruit allulose brown sugar substitute in this apple cider recipe. It has more flavor and tastes more like the real thing.

Cinnamon liquid stevia can be replaced with vanilla liquid stevia or plain liquid monk fruit sweetener.

Can I add real apple pieces?

Yes, if you want to add real apples to this bread, it will work. Simply dice a small amount of apple and add it to the dough in the mixer. We recommend at least half a cup of diced apples.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease the bottom and sides of an 8-by-4-inch loaf pan or use parchment paper.

Bring the water to a boil, then add the tea bags and steep for 5 minutes. Let’s set it aside.

Add the dry ingredients to the large bowl of a stand mixer. Coconut flour, brown sweetener, apple pie spice, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. Mix until combined.

Pour in the wet ingredients. Please throw away the bag of tea water. Pour in the olive oil, apple cider vinegar, apple extract, and cinnamon stevia and mix to combine. Add eggs to the batter, one at a time.

Pour the batter into a greased or parchment paper prepared loaf pan. Smooth from top to bottom.

Place the streusel ingredients in a small bowl and rub together the coconut oil with your fingertips until it forms large crumbs. Scatter over the cake.

Bake for 30 minutes, then cover with aluminum foil to prevent the streusel from burning and continue baking for another 10 minutes until the center is cooked through. Let the bread cool before slicing and adding icing if desired.

Cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The cake will soften over time, but lightly toasting will keep it fresh. You can also slice, wrap and freeze.

Precautions

Net Carbs 0 g
This recipe includes an apple streusel topping, but no icing.
