When life is in a dry season

It’s been a very dry season here so I made a comment to my hairdresser about taking care of my dry scalp. Her suggestion was the exact opposite of what I had been doing. Brush, brush, brush! The body knows how to produce enough natural oils. We just need enough courage to activate it.

I started thinking about other areas of my life. The field of life has been a little dry lately. Honestly speaking, it may not just be happening recently. An area of ​​life that is secretly painful and pushed to the back of your mind. However, it continues to bubble again. Or tender areas that cause tears or fear of being vulnerable.

But how can we “brush” these areas? Meditation and prayer are great ways to “brush” them. He’s kind, yet sincere. It’s short and routine. It will be done (until next time) in a safe location that you can walk away from.

There are many ways to do this type of focused meditation, so give it a try. Perhaps you meditate with words and every time you think of words that describe how you feel in this area of ​​your life. Or you might meditate on colors and think of a different color each time. Once you find the right color, start imagining the details. Is it moving or stationary, thin or thick, translucent or solid? Or maybe you meditate on where in your body you feel it. Does it look like it’s on your shoulders, deep in your stomach, or between your eyebrows?

Remember, you are “brushing” and “revitalizing” the problem, not resolving it. You just sit with it. I’m observing it. I admit that. Leave it at that. Resolution may then occur outside of meditation, a month or more later. Or you may find that solving is not the answer. Maybe it’s like a slow-starting healing.

Meditation and prayer are great ways to anoint the dry, painful, and tender areas of your life. So be brave. brush.
