Food choices and how to find the right balance

Eating a balanced diet has a huge impact not only on your physical health, but also on your mental health and relationship with food.

You always hear it, right? From friends and health practitioners. “Everyone should eat a balanced diet! A balanced diet is the best way to reach a balanced weight and optimize health!” But why? But exactly why is it so important and what even constitutes a balanced diet?

In order to prioritize something on a daily basis, it is important to understand the reasons behind it. Otherwise, these convenience choices and paleo diet habits seem much easier to choose and participate in.

Here we explain exactly why eating a balanced diet is so important and how you can get started today.

Why is it important to eat a balanced diet?

From improving health outcomes to thinking more positively about food, a balanced diet has a hand in everything. Let’s walk through the four most important benefits of eating a balanced diet.

1. provides adequate nutrition to the body

At a basic anatomical level, our bodies thrive and survive on the food we fuel. This is really where the term nutrition came from. When you eat a balanced diet, the food you’re providing your body is packed with the nutrients it needs to keep you feeling energized and healthy. It nourishes us!

This means you can build muscle, burn energy, stay alert and fight disease. Who wouldn’t want that?

2. Prevents cravings as a result of restriction

When we consume a balanced diet, we are consuming all the important elements that our body needs. This includes all the macronutrients that our food is made from. At a basic level, think about protein, carbohydrates, and fat. On the other hand, when we are not consuming a balanced diet, we are often lacking one or more of those important macronutrients.

Now this can be intentional or unintentional. If it’s unintentional, it’s usually a result of habit or preference! Maybe you’re not a fan of many protein sources, or maybe you forget to add fat to your diet because you never grew up with it often. If it’s intentional, it’s usually because they believe they shouldn’t consume certain nutrients as a result of a diet or food rule.

In either scenario, if we are missing a key component of a balanced diet, our body will eventually let us know in the form of cravings and loss of control. We want more of our groceries in such a powerful way that it can often lead to overeating or even overeating. Over time, this can also lead to a negative relationship with food.

By eating a balanced diet, you can avoid those extreme cravings and build an overall balance with your food.

3. A balanced diet stabilizes blood sugar

Blood sugar levels are something we hear about frequently in the health and wellness world. It affects so many things!

Nevertheless, it is very common for blood sugar or blood sugar levels to become unstable and permanently spike and drop. Why is this not ideal? First of all, going to that annual doctor’s appointment, which no one enjoys, results in high blood sugar levels. It can also make you feel very hungry, unstable, irritable and give you a bit of brain fog. This happens when you don’t eat a balanced diet.

Once your blood sugar levels are stable and under control, no more sustained energy, modulated hunger levels, and hyperglycemia in the clinic!

4. Makes you feel full and bored

Do you know the feeling of a “bottomless pit”? No matter what you eat, you still can’t feel satisfied? This is often the result of eating an unbalanced diet.

Your body wants to be fed a balanced diet, so when you eat them, it feels great! This means you feel truly full and satisfied with every meal. On an anatomical level, you feel physically fulfilled, and on a mental level, you are satisfied with what you eat.

Don’t feel like you always want more!
