Hello everyone, I hope all is well. 4c Dry-haired girlies, this is for you! Today we’re talking about the very popular Amika Hydrorush line, specifically the intensive shampoo and mask.
experience
My 4c hair is thirsty so I wanted to try the Hydro Lash line. I’ve been using shampoos and masks for a little over a year now, going through two shampoos and two or three hair masks.
intense moisture shampoo
Hydrolash shampoo is one of the best moisturizing shampoos I’ve used. It works very well to gently cleanse my hair, leaving it very soft and moisturized, but also removes build-up. It’s smooth and lathers very well! You can use this to easily untangle your fingers. What’s the scent? wonderful. I’ve never met an Amika product that didn’t smell nice. A shampoo containing hyaluronic acid and squalane, which have excellent moisturizing properties.
intense moisture mask
The perfect follow-up to the Hydrolash shampoo, the mask is thick, easy to apply, and leaves hair super soft. I apply it spot-on, cover with a cap, then use the hot head heating cap for deep conditioning. I usually leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it off. Amika said the mask provided a glide to detangle, but I couldn’t untangle it. I usually detangle my hair before washing and wash it under running water when washing off the mask. Again, the scent is amazing. You can feel the difference with this mask, your hair feels soft and moisturized and it usually lasts for a few days before using the hair butter. Although this mask is meant for thick hair, it worked well on my fine hair as well and I didn’t think it would weigh on my hair.
verdict
Overall, I didn’t think these products would work for my 4c fine hair (medium to high porosity) even after looking at many reviews. However, I fell in love with them after the first use and have repurchased them several times. I can actually feel the difference in my hair. I’m taking a break from these products because I want to try other products, but I’ll be back.
Amika has a lot of trial kits for their products, which are a great way to test them out before purchasing the full size, but I think they’re worth it. Try the Hydro Dream Hydration Routine Kit (£26). It comes with a rinse-out conditioner instead of a mask, but I still think it’s a great trial kit.
Since I dyed my hair, I’ve been washing it twice a week and I’m loving it so far. I’ll be posting lots of hair reviews, so please look forward to it! Stay safe!
