Here’s a summary of my friend’s trip to the Outer Banks.
Friend trip to OBX
When a beach trip to Bald Head Island fell through, Katie suggested a do-over trip to her parents’ home in Corolla on the Outer Banks. I knew the water would be too cold for swimming this time of year, but I was hoping for clear skies so I could at least take a few walks on the beach. It was stormy for half of the long weekend, but we ended up with some nice sunny beach walks.

We woke up on Thursday and drove 4 hours to the coast. Before heading home, we had lunch at NC Coast Grill & Bar.

The weather was cloudy and windy, but I took a short walk before the rain started.
Most of our time is spent on this giant couch reading books, playing games like Rummikub and Wordle Party Game (a great Christmas present for anyone who loves NYT games!), and of course enjoying our morning coffee. We spent time drinking and playing NYT games. I also saw the movie “Challengers”, but I don’t recommend it. It was the worst! I love that we are such a relaxed group of people who are just happy and chill!

Thursday night I made tacos using fresh mahi mahi. It’s simple, but I don’t try to be fancy. Fish was the star.

Beach walk #2
Now that the rain has stopped, I decided to go for a beach walk 2!

On the second night, I made low country stew! This meal is so easy that it’s a crowd-pleaser.

We had a little laugh at the formal night after two days of jogging. Let’s all dress up and go out to dinner!
Dinner at North Banks
We had dinner at North Banks which had great service and great food. We enjoyed drinks at the bar while waiting for a table. Then the bartender gave us one oyster each.
For dinner, I had a crab dish and spinach salad, but I forgot to take a photo.
