What was it like working with Kathy Bates?

Working with Kathy is like having a front row seat to an exclusive comedy special while learning from a masterclass. It’s a mixture of awe, curiosity, and hilarity. For example, when she randomly dances on set, or winks at me after a great take, or when she yells “Hello, handsome” over my shoulder into my phone while I’m on FaceTime with my husband. Like when you do something. 10th hour of shooting. Every day made me love her even more as she seamlessly created magic in front of the camera while reminding us that even legends have their quirky moments. There’s never a dull moment.

Can you tell us your secret secret to getting into your character?

While filming Matlock, I love using Kiehl’s Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash ($38), followed by Herbal Extract Toner and Serum Infused Water Cream ($58), morning and night. Create a thick moisture barrier on your skin before applying makeup. . I also apply Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% ($5) serum daily to prevent breakouts. Mixsoon Collagen Hydrogel Eye Patch ($28) is a game changer.

And at night, melt away your makeup with the amazing Pharmacy Green Clean Makeup Remover ($24). Two days a week, I relax for 20 minutes under the red and blue light of the iconic Déesse Pro LED Therapy Mask ($1,700) to soothe my skin before bed. When my face needs some extra brightness and firming, my go-to is Tracy Hudson’s The Mask ($125)! It’s also essential to drink plenty of water throughout the day, sleep for eight hours on a silk pillowcase, and minimize stress as much as possible.

What is your favorite beauty product?

Even though they call me old school, I’m still a fashion fair gal! I grew up watching my mom run to the cosmetics counter at Marshall Fields in Chicago to get the latest lip color. She never went to the mailbox without properly applying her lips. And today I’m wearing the same one. My favorite color is Chocolate Raspberry ($29)! My husband also gifted me a Dyson hair dryer ($429). With my thick hair, it was an amazing time saver. KeraCare Thermal Heat Protector ($14) is perfect for protecting my hair from heat damage on days when I want to go for a straight look.

What do you do to relax when you’re not shooting?

When he’s not filming Matlock in LA, he lives in Brooklyn, New York. There, I love nothing more than eating at cute mom-and-pop restaurants and attending live performances. There is no musical or play that I can’t resist seeing, whether it’s on Broadway or off-Broadway. My best way to hibernate properly is to bury myself under the amazing Casaruna weighted blanket on the big sofa in Albany Park and watch old movies and TV series. I realized that a way to relax from acting was to watch other people perform. I’m also a travel addict. Adventures abroad never go out of style, and stories shared with friends and family never expire.
