We went downtown last Wednesday to see a holiday show by Texas minstrel Robert Earl Keene. Since we were in the neighborhood, we strolled down 2nd Avenue to see Kempelen’s Owls, a pair of owl sculptures by the Central Library’s Butterfly Bridge.
I love these moving owls, but it was disappointing to see their amber eyes and modular perches no longer sparkle like they once did.
Somebody please go change the light bulb.
We admired the disturbing architecture of Jenga Tower…
…and a view of Shoal Creek flowing under the Butterfly Bridge.
After the show, we drove to Zilker Park and took a break under the annual Zilker Holiday Tree.
Stand under the multicolored lights from the top of the 155-foot-tall Moonlight Tower. Take your loved one’s hand and look up!
Don’t laugh, but be careful not to fall! Merry Christmas from Austin, everyone!
