Move.

Here is a summary of what I have finally wanted for a long time!!!

I was impressed!

I love resets. I love launching new spaces. But, well, moving is tiring. This year, in addition to the physical effort, there are so many adult events that require my time and attention that I’m feeling pretty drained mentally. From Mazen breaking his ribs on Christmas, to selling our family home and its furniture, doing a lot of paperwork, to buying this new home, we’ve grown up a lot! And now, I’ve finally calmed down.

But I’m very happy to be here. I already know it was a great decision and every morning I wake up and drink my coffee with this view (just like an episode of House Hunters!), I’m so grateful.

(If you don’t know why I moved, read this post before reading this one.)

Preparing to move

Before we closed on our new home, we did a lot of preparations to fix the rent. I caulked and painted the walls (I didn’t know I was capable of that!), removed the video doorbell, cleaned it, erased it with magic, replaced the curtains, and packed and packed my belongings. Yes, I used an old snorkel as a paint stirrer. Very professional.

These paint touch up pens are perfect for small spots and patches. Once filled, you can click and paint whenever you need to touch up without opening the can.

Get the key!

Thank you to my awesome realtor, Ivy Haynes, for bringing me the keys (and champagne!) to the gym.

I immediately went to my new house and tried to get used to it!

And the move has finally begun!

It took us two full days to move all the little things: lamps, clothes, linens, pillows, closets, essentials, pantry, refrigerator. We had a house cleaning company come in to clean our house and they were great. This meant I could focus on moving instead of wiping down the inside of the cabinets, and they did a great job. We all had Al Carbone for dinner.

Progress photos!

Other energy sources: Chopped salads and Blue Apron dishes.

And of course rosé!

We invited friends over for happy hour on our new rooftop deck and toasted. Everyone loves taking pictures of scenery 😉

movers day

Friday was movers’ day. When they arrived, they said, “We don’t have a lot of stuff,” but it still took four people and almost six hours to get everything out. I did a lot of cleaning and packed clothes while they were working. They only brought one chest of drawers so I had to go back and forth three times.

Farewell first place!

Lego

One of the areas we had to wait until the movers arrived was the Lego room. Mazen was clear that no one was allowed to touch his Lego. But while he was in the ocean, I boldly (with great care!!) moved them myself!!

First of all, from the shelf…

The most luxurious ships have their own special displays.

first night

By the end of the day, I had walked almost 20,000 steps and was completely exhausted. But I’m very excited to move in.

I love cordless lamps!

Unpacking

The next two days were spent unpacking and setting up. Boy’s room:

This mini roller set was great.

I bought a few new things, including the cordless vacuum cleaner I raved about on Prime Day. It was great!!

All the tools I currently have in my new tool bag:

Delicious food has arrived!

I received cupcakes from my neighbor!

And canned fish – so good!

More fuel:

dinner

And it’s pretty complete!

I installed these floating shelves with a few curse words. I placed the third one in the main floor bath.

And then it was time for my babes to go home!!

The floor plan of this house is very similar to the previous one, so it doesn’t feel that different to them. But everything is a little better, including the Lego walls, and it looks like a museum 🙂

The first time we dined together, Mazen found a recipe for Arrayes and we worked on it. He’s a pretty up-and-coming chef and it was very delicious.

And now, hopefully, we can relax in our new home!!
