We don’t want to hear complaints that the pastel nail trend that’s transitioning us from spring to summer (we’ve seen it on Taylor Swift, Emily Blunt, Michelle Obama, and more recently) is too delicate, too sweet, or too jejune. Of course, beauty is the key, but just because a color is lightweight and soft doesn’t mean it’s not edgy. Rita Ora’s latest manicure is proof of that.
Ora appeared at the Isle of Wight Festival last weekend wearing a totally impractical but absolutely stunning striped satin ensemble. That included a bra and matching high-low hemline vest and rosette-embellished bloomers, and of course, some seriously fierce white knee-high boots and cheeky oval sunglasses. But one of my favorite details is, of course, her manicure.

Nail artist Michelle Humphrey shared a close-up of her stunning nail design, which features the palest possible pastel periwinkle base with a soft-focus jelly finish. Humphrey told Allure that she added slices of prismatic glitter over the transparent look to create an iridescent ombré effect that looks incredibly beautiful on short nails like Ora.
