Stephen Snyder’s “The Power of the Mind”

Stephen Snyder's "The Power of the Mind"

Host Michael Taft speaks with Dr. Steven Snyder about the two “missing” brahmaviharas, the practice of innate goodness, the wisdom of the heart and the wisdom of the heart, the magic of the “group heart,” the paradox of the Heart Sutra, learning to be receptive, God and nonduality, substance, bodhisattvas, deities, the three types of forgiveness, and the “terrifying importance” of heart-based practices.

Dr. Stephen Mugen Snyder began meditating daily in 1976. Since then, he has studied Buddhism extensively, exploring and working with Zen, Tibetan, Theravada, and Western non-duality traditions. He was authorized to teach in the Theravada tradition in 2007 and in the Soto and Rinzai Zen sects in 2022. Stephen is a senior student of Mark Sand Mininburg Roshi and an initiation teacher of White Plum Asanga, a group of teachers in the vein of Maezumi Roshi. Stephen is the author of many books, including Trust in Awakening, Demystifying Awakening, and Buddha’s Heart.
