This ground beef burger bowl was born one night when someone asked for a burger and I just wasn’t in the mood. I love a good burger, but I don’t like grilling beef patties on the stove, dealing with splatter, and holding my breath waiting to see if the smoke alarm goes off. So instead, we put all the flavors in a bowl: seasoned ground beef, lettuce, tomato, crispy fries, and quick burger sauce. The comfort is the same, but the cleaning effort is significantly reduced.
At my house, the only time I actually look at the clock is the fries in the fryer, so this is a 15 minute meal. While they are cooking, the ground beef will brown and the sauce will be stirred together and everything will be ready at the same time. It’s quick and easy to do and won’t leave your kitchen looking like a disaster area.

For me, Cooking Burnout Club is exactly that. When I’m tired and have no patience, I look for ways to simplify dinner without disappointing anyone. I don’t have the energy for complicated cleanup or tedious steps, so rather than forcing myself to cook the “right” way, I rethink the format. This is how we make our burgers until it’s warm enough to grill outside.
If burgers are a frequent part of your home, there are several Cooking Burnout Club options to make cooking easier. My Air Fryer Chicken Burgers, Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burgers, and Chipotle Chicken Burgers are all easy ways to change things up without any extra effort. It’s just a different way to harness the energy from the same burger at night.
ingredient spotlight
This is a quick spotlight on some of the ingredients in the recipe that I think deserve attention. The complete recipe is in the recipe card below.
Ground Beef – I like to use lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7). But use whatever you have on hand. You can also halve the ground beef and ground turkey if that’s your family’s preference. Coconut aminos (optional) – Add a splash for extra depth of flavor, but not required. You can use soy sauce or gluten-free tamari as well, but you don’t have to use it at all. Burger Sauce – The only sauces are mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and relish. If you don’t have any condiments, chop up some pickles instead. If you don’t like burger sauce, use ranch dressing.
recipe tips
Swap the protein – If you prefer ground turkey or ground chicken to beef, they work well here. Swap out the fries – Frozen hash browns crisped in the air fryer are also a great alternative. Finely shred the lettuce. I like very thin lettuce, but if you’re short on time, pre-shredded lettuce is fine too.

special sauce
3 tablespoon mayonnaise3 tablespoon ketchup1.5 tablespoon yellow mustard1 tablespoon sweet taste1/4 teaspoon salt
for serving
1 package french fries – cooked according to package instructions1 cup chopped lettuce – About 1 head of romaine cheese, finely chopped1 cup chopped tomatoes
Cook the fries – Prepare the fries in the air fryer according to package instructions.
1 package of fries
Cook the ground beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, dried chives, paprika, mustard seeds, salt, cayenne pepper, and coconut aminos.
1 pound lean ground meat, 1 tablespoon dried chives, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard, 1/2 teaspoon salt, A pinch of cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon coconut aminos
Cook until the beef is completely cooked, breaking it up.
Make a special sauce. In a small bowl, stir together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet relish, and salt until smooth.
3 tablespoons mayonnaise, 3 tablespoons ketchup, 1.5 tablespoons yellow mustard, 1 tablespoon sweet relish, 1/4 teaspoon salt
Assemble the bowl. Add fries to the bottom of each bowl. Top with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, and tomato. Served with plenty of special sauce.
1 cup chopped lettuce, 1 cup chopped tomatoes
Cook the fries until crispy. I like to make my fries in the air fryer because they get crispier. I use an oven style fryer with a mesh tray. If you’re making a large batch, it may be easier to use the oven. Don’t overcook the beef – Cook the ground beef until cooked through, but be careful not to let it dry out. Meal Prep Tip – If making over several days, keep all ingredients separate. Reheat the beef and fries and add the lettuce, tomatoes, and sauce just before serving.
